The mission of Afrikan Village Universal Institute is to educate, empower, and inspire children to become confident, compassionate, and productive citizens of their communities. Through a safe, respectful, and culturally enriching environment, we help young people discover their history, recognize their inherent worth, and develop the knowledge, character, and life skills needed to become their very best selves. Guided by our belief that "I Am Because We Are, We Fly," we are committed to strengthening children, empowering families, and building healthier, more successful communities.

Community Advocate
Norman Ray Redwing, Jr. is the Founder and Program Director of Afrikan Village Universal Institute. For more than 30 years, he has dedicated his life to empowering children, strengthening families, and building healthier communities through African-centered education, mentorship, and community service.
Drawing on his background in psychology and youth development, Mr. Redwing leads programs that inspire children to embrace their history, recognize their worth, and become confident, productive leaders. His passion is creating opportunities that help young people and families thrive while fostering unity and lasting community impact.
Mr. Redwing believes that investing in children today creates stronger communities tomorrow—a vision reflected in the Institute's guiding principle: "I Am Because We Are, We Fly."
Dr. Warren E. Harper
Financial Consultant
Licensed Psychologist
Dr. Warren E. Harper is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Psychologist, and a Certified Black Psychologist through the Association of Black Psychologists. As a dedicated financial supporter and Behavioral Health Consultant for Afrikan Village Universal Institute, Dr. Harper is committed to strengthening children, families, and communities through culturally grounded behavioral health and wellness education.
Passionate about the Institute's mission, Dr. Harper supports its work in tutoring, family services, financial empowerment, and African-centered education, believing these programs help build confident, healthy, and successful future generations. He views his work with Afrikan Village Universal Institute as an extension of serving his own family and community.
